Helping Your Teen through All the Feels

Updated: Jan 30, 2023

Feelings need to be felt. Even the uncomfortable ones.

As parents, we tend to want to make our kids feel better. When they fall as young children, we may “kiss and make better” their sore spot.

But sometimes, a kiss or a hug isn’t going to make the pain go away. If, for example, they have had a breakup with a girlfriend or boyfriend, they may hurt. A lot. But the only way for them to get to the other side, to get to okay, is to feel those feelings.

Feelings pushed down will fester, only to emerge at some awkward time later. Give your teen time with their feelings.

This can’t be rushed. They need to go through this. But they don’t need to go through alone.
