Guest Blog by Julie Mann: Could Tapping Be the Stress-Relief Tool You’ve Been Looking For

Oct 12, 2025

I discovered EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique – aka Tapping) about 20 years ago. I'd gone along to a Hypnotherapist who wanted to try out the technique on me, and as I was open to trying something new, I agreed.

To be honest, I wasn't impressed! Looking back I can see that it was because there was absolutely no rapport between myself and the therapist I went to. I say that because, a close friend of mine who’d been dealing with a longstanding issue, went to see an EFT Practitioner in London and managed, with her support, to resolve the issue.

Cecilia was raving! “Go and see Emma”, she said, “I’m sure you’ll have a totally different experience”.

Trusting my dear friend C and knowing how much she’d previously struggled with her issue, I had to book a session with Emma.

I remember when Emma opened the door to me, how comfortable and at ease I felt, and although I was a little unsure if my experience of EFT would be any better, my gut said “this will be different!”

Sure enough I was blown away by the whole experience and the fact that I too was able to resolve the problem I’d been dealing with. Not only that, I was so excited about the technique’s simplicity and effectiveness that I decided to train as an EFT Practitioner myself!

What struck me most was how something so simple could make such a big difference. EFT isn’t complicated – it’s just tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on a thought or feeling. Science shows this calms the amygdala (the part of the brain that triggers stress and anxiety), which is why people often feel relief so quickly. In fact, research has found that cortisol, the stress hormone, can drop after just a short tapping session.

I also love that EFT is something you can do for yourself once you’ve learned the basics. Whether it’s stress, cravings, confidence, or even sleep issues, it’s a tool you can carry in your back pocket and use anytime, anywhere. And it’s not just me saying this – EFT has gained recognition worldwide, even being approved by the U.S. Veterans Administration for helping those with PTSD.

Looking back to that first unimpressive session, I’m so glad I gave EFT another chance. It changed things for me in a way I couldn’t have imagined, and it’s been an incredible gift to now share that with others.

I'm sharing a video of me demonstrating EFT Tapping for letting go of Anxiety.  If you'd like to learn more about me or my work, please visit my website here
